1. Product Overview
MVME333-2 is a dedicated intelligent serial controller VME slave board, different from simple transition I/O boards like MVME705B/MVME715P, it carries independent MC68010 10MHz coprocessor and 128KB local dynamic RAM to complete serial data framing, buffering and protocol processing locally, greatly reducing the serial polling load of host MVME CPU boards.
Equipped with six independent full-duplex serial channels, each channel supports software switching between asynchronous RS232/RS422 and synchronous HDLC/SDLC industrial protocols. Two channels support high-speed bidirectional DMA transmission up to 1Mbps for synchronous communication, while all six channels run asynchronous mode simultaneously at max 9600bps.
Revision -2 upgrades the original MVME333 hardware: expand buffer RAM capacity, add multi-stage LC power filter, upgrade transient suppression diodes, increase channel isolation voltage to resist high EMI interference in DCS cabinet environments. Front panel dual DB25 connectors lead out all six serial channels for on-site field wiring; rear P2 VME connector completes VME bus data interaction with host SBC.
Mainly used in Honeywell TDC3000 LCN racks to connect temperature/pressure flow transmitters, gas chromatographs, PLC slave stations and remote RTUs via RS422 multi-drop bus, widely deployed in petrochemical, thermal power and offshore process control systems.
